Overview
What is Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB)?
You might get Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) if you became ill or are disabled because of an accident or disease either:
- at work
- on an approved employment training scheme or course
The amount you may get depends on your individual circumstances.
For more information about claiming benefits for industrial accidents and industrial diseases, go to the Government’s website.
About your IIDB assessment
You may be asked to attend an IIDB assessment to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) assess the level of disability due to your accident or disease.
IIDB assessments are done by one of our Functional Assessors, who are qualified healthcare professionals.
The Functional Assessor will take a statement about the accident or disease. This will include any treatments you are having and any limitations that have happened as a result.
This statement will be read back to you and you will be asked to provide a signature.
You can bring any additional medical evidence to your assessment. You may also bring a family member, carer or support worker to the assessment.
If you have been invited to a video assessment, you can access this here.
