Overview

What is Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB)?

You might get Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit (IIDB) if you became ill or are disabled because of an accident or disease either:

  • at work
  • on an approved employment training scheme or course

The amount you may get depends on your individual circumstances.

Visit GOV.UK for more information about IIDB.

About your IIDB assessment

You may be asked to attend an IIDB assessment to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) assess the level of disability due to your accident or disease.

IIDB assessments are done by one of our qualified health professionals.

The health professional will take a statement about the accident or disease. This will include any treatments you are having and any limitations that have happened as a result.

This statement will be read back to you and you will be asked to provide a signature.

You can bring any additional medical evidence to your assessment. You may also bring a family member, carer or support worker to the assessment.

This website has a separate page if you have been invited to a video assessment for IIDB.

After your assessment

After your assessment, our health professional will write a report. This will provide advice to DWP on the level of disability that has occurred as a result of your accident or disease.

Once the DWP has come to a decision about your claim, they will contact you by letter to let you know the outcome.
